Sheila Denaburg is a Toronto artist who has been creating figurative and expressionistic masterpieces for many years. Using form and colour she establishes an emotional attachment with the audience. The works encompass an emotive realism, whether the characters are sad, happy, filled with ennui or energy, they seem never to be completed. It is the work of the viewer to decide how each story unfolds, whether with a whimsical sense of humour or life's more complex unfoldments. Sheila’s more recent work creates resting spaces in this cacophony of images. Viewers of her work are reminded of Kokoshka, Sautine or Matisse.
