Choosing the right condom for you

Condoms differ in a number of ways. You may want to try several different brands like Durex, Lifestyles, Crown and Kimono to find the ones you'll like best.

Condom Material:

Use latex or polyurethane condoms for protection from sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms made from natural intestines, commonly called "skins" or "lambskins", are not recommended for disease protection.

Condom Lubrication:

Lubricated condoms are less likely to break because they are lubricated. Most condoms are lubricated with silicone lubricant.

Condom Size & Shape:

Most condoms are 7 to 7 1/2 inches (18cm to 19.5cm) long, but several brands are longer then average. While most condoms have straight sides, some have wider head room and others are form fitting. A reservoir tip also helps to prevent condoms from breaking.

Condom Smell/Taste:

Condoms may have a very strong rubber smell, or almost no smell at all. People who use condoms for oral sex usually prefer condoms without spermicide, because it has a bitter taste.
